Maple Basketball U8/U9 REP Development Team
Program Description: Maple Basketball U8/U9 REP basketball team is designed to give players a head start in their basketball journey. While REP Basketball begins at the U10 age, we will start REP training during the U8/U9 to provide players with a significant advantage when they transition to U10 REP Basketball.
PRACTICES: U8/U9 players will benefit from two weekly REP training sessions, where they will be introduced to concepts and strategies of team basketball. We will focus on refining individual skills such as shooting form, ball handling, and passing, while also teaching Maple's Read and React position-less basketball system. Players will learn concepts that lay the foundation for REP, high school, and even college-level play, including how to move continuously without the ball, cut to the basket, and pass between players to create optimal shot opportunities. The first 60 minutes of practice will be dedicated to instruction and training, while the last 15 minutes will be open gym time for the players to shoot around with their friends..
GAMES: Maple Basketball will seek 15-20 games through several options:
Once the season gets underway, we will be able to evaluate our team's level, see what options are available, and register the players for the most appropriate games where we feel they will gain experience and have fun!
