Anti-Racism Policy
At Maple Basketball, we are committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity within our organization and the broader community. We believe in fostering an environment that is free from discrimination, racism, and any form of prejudice. This Anti-Racism Policy outlines our principles and guidelines to create a safe and respectful environment for everyone involved in our basketball community.
1. Zero-Tolerance Policy: Maple Basketball has a zero-tolerance policy towards racism, racial discrimination, and racist behavior. Any instances of racism will be dealt with seriously and may result in disciplinary actions, including but not limited to suspension or expulsion from the organization.
2. Education and Training: We will provide mandatory education for all head coaches to raise awareness about racism, unconscious bias, and the importance of inclusivity. By equipping our community with knowledge, we can foster a more understanding and respectful environment.
3. Cultural Competence: We encourage everyone involved with Maple Basketball to embrace cultural competence. This means respecting and valuing the diverse backgrounds and experiences of others, celebrating differences, and fostering a sense of belonging for everyone.
4. Reporting Mechanism: Maple Basketball has established a reporting mechanism for anyone who experiences or witnesses racist incidents. Reports will be taken seriously, and appropriate actions will be taken promptly. To report incidents, fill out the form at https://www.maplebasketball.ca/faq1.html
