2013 Team #2:
Maple Basketball is excited to introduce a second team in the 2013 category this fall! While we typically have one team per age group, the abundance of talented players and supportive families we've had the pleasure of working with has led us to expand our offerings for the 2013 age group.
Here's why we're adding a second team:
1. Multiple Basketball Systems: Our two teams will allow us to implement different basketball systems. Players thrive in different environments, and we recognize the importance of tailoring our approach to their strengths. Whether it's the up-tempo full-court offense or the slow-paced half-court offense, both styles are equally effective. We've seen success with both strategies, including our 2008 team reaching #4 in Ontario at the OBLX level with a slow-paced half-court offense.
2. Increased Playing Time: In basketball, certain players often dominate the court, leaving limited opportunities for others. With the U12 Coalition league not being equal playing time, we want to ensure that more players have meaningful roles and ample playing time. By fielding two teams, we can distribute playing minutes more evenly, allowing more players to contribute significantly to the game.
